Questions for class discussion
Due May 13 (use another sheet of paper for answers)
1. What is wrong with a mundane life? Do you feel that
we are all reaching for something more exciting than what we have (ex; drugs,
alcohol, tv, video games, shopping etc.)? Why?
2.Think back to your alternate world? How different is
your made up world from your real world? Is the alternate world more appealing?
Why or why not? If you had your choice would you choose an alternate world to
your own life?
3.Is the grass always greener on the other side?
4.Dean Fogg said, “Most people are blind to magic.
They move through a blank and empty world. They’re bored with their lives, and
there’s nothing they can do about it. They’re eaten alive by longing, and
they’re dead before they die.”
5.Quentin left behind his old life, his old self when
he went to Brakebills. Can you leave yourself behind by making a geographic or
life change? Why or why not?
6.What are you obsessive about, enough to work hard
enough to achieve it? Remember the “Do Now” from Monday, “The moment you doubt
whether you can fly, you cease forever to be able to do it.” Jim Barrie, Peter Pan. Is it enough to work hard?

ReplyDeleteI enjoyed the movie quite a bit, I saw it as a kid and have always liked it. I really like Pai's character, I think the message she sends is a valuable one. Great movie, glad we got to watch it!! :)
I am going to move this over to the class blog! Thanks Paige.
